Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1C of Adams Morgan Releases Expert Study on Mt. Pleasant Library Renovations Findings Available on ANC 1C Website

Washington, D.C. – April 19, 2010
– Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1C (ANC 1C) of Adams Morgan releases findings of Nichols Design Associates, Inc. study.  This report provides insights on the renovations planned for the Mt. Pleasant library, which is the only library in Ward One.

The study was commissioned by ANC 1C to examine two items; appropriateness of the proposed disabled-access ramp for ADA compliance and review of proposed plans as they compare to D.C. fire safety requirements.

“The findings of this study will be shared with leaders at District Council, District of Columbia Library, and Fire and Emergency Services,” said Wilson Reynolds, Chair, ANC 1C. “Our ANC hopes that the objections raised, and there are objections, will be cause for a review of the ADA ramp and the plan for fire access.”  “We are pleased that Mr. Robert Nichols, author of the study is prepared to share these findings and objections to city leaders in person if invited,” stated Reynolds.

In preparation for the renovation, the Mount Pleasant Library at 3169 2 16th St., N.W. has been re-located and will be operating at an interim facility starting Monday, April 26 at 3164 Mount Pleasant St., NW.
